BFA at Newsco's EXPO in the South East26 Jan 2010Last Sunday 24th January the BFA teamed up with the people from Newsco at the brand new florist event 'EXPO' This brand new FREE florist trade event, organised by Jannicke from Newsco, catered for florists based in the South East of England. Exhibitors at the event included Newsco Fresh Flowers Ltd, BFA, Workbox Direct, Kelly Tags, Florist Pro, KEITS, Hadlow College, BoxMart, A Touch of Ginger Ltd to name just a few. Throughout the day international demonstrator and BFA member Ian Lloyd NDSF FSF created inspirational and commercial designs with a Valentines Day and Mothers Day theme that the visitors were able to re-create in their own shops for the peaks ahead. The South East qualifying heat of the prestigious 'RHS Chelsea Florist of the Year' competition saw some wonderful entries made by the competitors. The schedule was to create and design a funeral tribute for a keen gardener and the inspirational and intriquate pieces of work certainly turned a few heads in the competition room.
The relaxed atmosphere at the event encouraged florists to network and chat to other florists which is something that we don't often get a chance to do these days. But as well as chatting to fellow florists and friends the combination of meeting prospective and current suppliers certainly worked as the trade stands were buzzing with activity. When asked how the event had gone Jannicke from Newsco commented 'I really enjoyed the whole experience and the feedback has been great so I’m absolutely buzzing right now!'
