Training and Education Committee Inaugural Meeting

The inaugural meeting of the new British Florist Association (BFA) Training and Education Committee (T&EC) took place in Birmingham on 18th May.
 
The new committee was formed as part of the agreement made between the Society of Floristry (SofF) and the BFA during the acquistion of the SofF in March. President of the BFA Mark Ward said of the first meeting "The new committee is made up of a really credable and forward thinking gropu of strong individuals who have training close to heart" Mark went on to say "I am also delighted that two key players within our industry sector training, David from Lantra and Melanie from Keits".
 
The aims and objectives of the new BFA T&EC were drawn up at the meeting. The new BFA T&EC aims to be "the voice of training and education in the floristry industry", with the following objectives;

  • Development and delivery skills and qualifications
  • Promote and encourage participation in competitions
  • Maintain career advice to professional florists
  • Raise standards of training and education for professional florists in conjunction with industry partners
  • Liase between business and training providers
  • Support tutors
  • Give careers advice
  • Maintain sustainability of floristry businesses

Following the meeting and discussions the BFA vice-president has appointed Rosie Hughes as his vice-chairman of the new committee.
