The British Florist Association is the single unifying movement at the heart of the UK’s diverse floristry industry. It represents industry interests at local and national government level and to the media. As the only trade association in the florist industry that is recognised by Government both in the UK and EU. As the exclusive UK member of FLORINT, the European Federation of Florist Associations, the BFA is recognised as the voice of the industry representing 6,500 UK florists
The BFA showcases the skills of the professional florist to consumers at prestigious flower shows nationwide and online through its customer-facing website.
The BFA is passionate about driving industry standards. It founded the Institute of Professional Florists in 2015 and is the sole provider of floristry skills competitions to World Skills, UK Skills and the RHS.

FleurEx is the BFA’s annual show typically held in October. Now the only floristry trade show in the whole of the UK, BFA FleurEx offers rich and varied content over the course of a single weekend. Hundreds of florists flock to FleurEx to visit trade exhibitors’ stands, listen to conference speakers, watch floristry demonstrations, attend floristry workshops and to take part in floristry competitions.

Presented at the Gala Night celebrations during FleurEx, the coveted annual BFA Industry Awards are voted for by florists over the course of the year. Categories include Flower Wholesaler, Florist Newcomer, Florist Website, Floristry Tutor, Training Provider and Sundries Wholesaler of the Year.

The dedicated trade website www.bfaflorist.org is the online home of the British Florist Association. It features the essential information on the BFA’s scheduled events, talks, workshops, conferences and competitions and on trade membership through the BFA and individual membership of the Institute of
Professional Floristry (IoPF).
The BFA shares content across its social media platforms and now has over 12,000 likes on Facebook and nearly 4000 followers on Twitter.
Membership of the Institute of Professional Florists is the hallmark of the professional florist. The IoPF was founded in 2015 as part of the British Florist Association. Whilst the BFA represent the floristry Industry as a whole, the IoPF is focused on the professional status of the Individual Florist.
Working in close partnership with the Sector Skills Council for Floristry and education providers, the Institute aims to drive consistently high standards through floristry training and development. An online process enables members to log their own Continuous Professional Development activity.
Every two years, Moreton Morrell College in Warwickshire hosts a sell-out 3 days of new concepts, new techniques, landscape art and bridal designs taught by leading figure in floral design.

In Spring 2016, the BFA launched its first consumer website www.britishfloristassociation.org with tips, inspirational designs, news, views and stories from the world of the BFA’s professional florists.

Every year, the BFA leads the way for floristry at all the UK’s major flower shows, bringing the very best of floral artistry to the attention of the visiting public and the world’s media.
The BFA works particularly closely with the Royal Horticultural Society to ensure that there is a platform for professional floristry at the heart of the country’s most prestigious flower shows. From organising the much-photographed final of the RHS Chelsea Florist of the Year competitions to staging Floral Design Studios, live floristry demonstrations and competitions at BBC Gardener’s World Live, RHS Tatton Park, RHS Hampton Court and RHS Chatsworth, the BFA is at the centre of the flower show scene.
