
Tips for entering
- Complete all the questions requested under each category. Those not listed do not require specific information to be sent.
- For retail and wedding/event categories you will be asked to tell us what was achieved, how it was achieved, the bigger picture and how this was affected by your entry
- Within your submission Retail Florist of the Year and Wedding/Event Florist of the Year you are required to send a maximum of 8 supporting images. Make sure these are clear and are relevant to your entry.
- Ensure that you are familiar with the word count limits as you write in the word document.
- Read the questions and focus your answers
- Make your submission early and don’t leave it to the last minute
- Keep your entry simple and to the point but be passionate and interesting
- Finally check your entry before submitting
Institute of Professional Florist Student of the Year
This category is open to all students who are currently studying a recognised qualification in floristry at a college/university or in a work-based apprenticeship. This category can only be nominated by a tutor. The nomination will require a short questionnaire to be completed by the tutor before shortlisted. In order for votes to be accepted for the IPF Student of the Year 2022, the following information is required from the Tutor by 5pm 20th June 2022.
- IPF Membership Number
- An up to date photograph of yourself and permission to use this photograph at the Gala Dinner or BFA website.

Floristry Tutor of the Year
This is open to all floristry tutors (full or part time) who teach a formal qualification in floristry with accreditation recognised by industry. The workplace or the Tutor must be BFA or IPF Member. In order for your votes to be accepted for the Floristry Tutor of the Year 2022, the following information is required from you by midday 1st September 2022
- Confirmation of which formal qualification and level / levels you have tutored in the academic year of 2021/2022.
- An up to date photograph of yourself and permission to use this photograph at the Gala Dinner or BFA website.
- The workplace or the Tutor must be BFA or IPF Members.

Training Provider of the Year
This is open to all training providers who deliver City & Guilds/ BTEC or University qualifications recognised by the Industry. This can be done in purpose built premises ( i.e. College) or through work based learning (i.e Apprenticeship) All Training Providers must be a member of the BFA. In order for your votes to be accepted for the Training Provider of the Year 2022, the following information is required from you by midday 1st September 2022
- Confirmation of which formal qualification and level / levels the nominated tutor has taught in the academic year of 2021/2022.
- An up to date photograph of your team (with or without students) and permission to use this photograph at the Gala Dinner or BFA website
Grower of the Year
This category is open to both cut flower and/or plant growers supplying the Florist Industry. Growers can be based in the UK or abroad. The BFA may request further information from the grower if necessary. Corporate members only can make use of the Corporate BFA membership logo on marketing material, website etc.. In order for your votes to be accepted for the Grower of the Year 2022, the following information is required from you by midday 1st September 2022

National Flower Sender of the Year
This award is open to any Flower Sending Network. Entrants need to be a BFA Corporate Member. In order for your votes to be accepted for the National Flower Sender of the Year 2022, the following information is required from you by midday 1st September 2022.

Floristry Service Provider of the year
This category is open to any business providing a service to the Industry, excluding fresh floral products and flower sending networks. In order for your votes to be accepted for the Floristry Service Provider of the Year 2022, the following information is required from you by midday 1st September 2022

Sundries Supplier of the Year
This category is open to all trade sundry suppliers to the industry who have local and/or national coverage. In order for your votes to be accepted for the Sundries Supplier of the year 2022, the following information is required from you by midday 1st September 2022

Flower supplier of the Year
This category is open to trade flower suppliers to the industry, who do not have a UK base cash & carry premises. In order for your votes to be accepted for the Flower Supplier of the Year 2022, the following information is required from you by midday 1st September 2022

Local Flower Wholesaler of the Year
This category is open to all independent or individual franchise wholesalers with a UK base supplying florists from a cash & carry premises. In order for your votes to be accepted for the Local Flower Wholesaler of the Year 2022 the following information is required from you by midday 1st September 2022

Wedding/Event Florist of the Year
This category is for wedding/event florists that offer exceptional customer service, use the highest quality flowers and exceptional skilled florists.
The following information is required from you by midday 1st September 2022
- Complete the questionnaire by midday Monday 1st September 2022. Please CLICK HERE to download the questionnaire
- Confirmation of your BFA and/or IPF Membership Number.
- Confirmation of contact details to be found on your website.
- Confirmation the current BFA Logo and backlink to the BFA website is found on the home page of your website.
- Up to date pictorial evidence of your weddings/events, staff (if applicable) and designs with permission to use these photographs at the Gala Dinner or BFA website. You must also provide your Logo.
Retail Florist of the Year
This category is for Retail florists that offer exceptional customer service, use the highest quality flowers and exceptional skilled florists. These businesses must be operational 5 days per week and offer delivery services. This category can be entered by shop or studio florists.
The following information is required from you by midday 1st September 2022
- Complete the questionnaire by midday Monday 1st September 2022. Please CLICK HERE to download the questionnaire
- Confirmation of your BFA and/or IPF Membership Number.
- Two photographs of your premises, one exterior, one interior
- A team or individual photograph (wearing uniform, if applicable)
- Photograph of a delivery vehicle
- Three photographs, examples of your floristry any designs.
- Copy of your Business Card
- Website address and online shop
- Pictorial evidence of the BFA Logo being used
- Confirmation the current BFA Logo and backlink to the BFA website is found on the home page of your website.
Please note all finalists must be represented at the Gala Dinner, held on Saturday 15th October 2022 at Jurys Inn, Watling St, Burbage, Hinckley LE10 3JA
Supporting Images
Images must be original and in jpeg format as they will be used on the large screens at the award ceremony if successful. These images will become the property of the British Florist Association for the purpose of the Industry Awards and any/all of these images may be used during the event and on any media that the BFA should choose. By sending this information you are agreeing to allow the images to be used at any time by the BFA.
These images may be used during the presentation should you be lucky enough to be a winner. Please send these images to nikki@britishfloristassociation.org

THE JUDGES
The Industry Award panel are a team of individuals who are experienced in floristry businesses from across the industry, providing a comprehensive representation of the BFA membership.

The BFA Industry awards committee reserve the right to amend the ENTRY CRITERIA and regulations for the BFA Industry Awards at any time by amending this page. We may update our website from time to time, and may change the content at any time. However, please note that any of the content on our website page may be out of date at any given time, and we are under no obligation to update it.
