Amaryllis at Christmas

They make a spectacular seasonal decoration!

For many the Amaryllis is THE cutflower that signifies Christmas. And who can't be taken in by the enourmous flowers on the chunky luscious green stem. There are often 3-4 heads on a stem which simply burst open and flower all over the festive period. Your local BFA florist will no doubt be stocking these beauties in over the Christmas period why not treat yourself or send some as a gift. The latin name for Amaryllis is Hippeastrum, meaning "horse star," If you're a keen plant person they're incredibly easy to grow with bulbs which are almost the same size as a grapefruit or large orange. For some Amaryllis are THE cut flower similarly to poinsettias being THE plant at Christmas. They make a spectacular seasonal decoration, and a few stems can make a sunning display with very little time, place them directly into a vase with perhaps the addition of a few tall glitter branches for example. They are available in a range of colours which include pink, orange, peach, wine red and salmon. To have these as an additional to your home this Christmas pop in or call your local BFA florist to place an order to ensure they have just the quantity and colour you wish.
