The brand new UK Florist of the Year Competition is being held for the first time this year. RHS Tatton Park Flower show is host to this prestigious competition - a fantastic opportunity for the country’s finest floral designers to compete for the coveted title of UK Florist of the Year.
The Professional Florists are competing at the heart of the show in the BFA Floral Marquee in front of a live audience. The crowds will also be enthralled by the BFA in the form of excellent demonstrations taking part throughout the day, hands-on workshops and the BFA Florist shop, where the public get to see all sides of the floristry business created inside the marquee.
The six finalist will have to create three designs the first they bring ready-made – A Bridal Design to be carried for a Wedding held in a
RHS Garden. The second they have 2 hours to create a table decoration – obviously this will have to be something quite special, all the materials are provided by the BFA so the competitors will be unaware of the material they will be getting to work with until just 15 minutes prior to the competition. Finally, they’ll have one and a half hours to create a planted design.
Throughout all the competition the designers will have to show an exceptionally high standard of skill through the work they produce. Judging will be undertaken by a jury composed of members from the UK Floristry Judges Guild who are all qualified, specialised florists.
The entry process started at BBC Gardeners World held in June at Birmingham NEC, two days of competitions resulted in the shortlisted finalists now competing in this grand Final. We wish Amy Curtis
Caroline Crabb, Charlotte Baker, Dean Sharpe, Louisa Cooper, Tina Pound the very best of luck.
The overall winner will be announced live on stage in the Floral Design Studio in front of our studio audience. The competition winner will be presented with the prestigious trophy and carry the title ‘UK Florist of the Year 2016’.
For over 40 years the British Florist Association has encouraged and organised floristry competitions in the United Kingdom.
