Please note that the heats and finals have now been cancelled till further notice.
Throughout May and June UK Worldskills floristry heats will be taking place around the country. Competitors from all corners of the UK will be put through their paces, as they go head to head to win their heats, but more importantly get the highest marks!
Eight Worldskills UK Floristry Competition finalists will be selected from the national heats to compete in the grand final in Birmingham NEC 18 – 20th November 2020 where over 150,000 attendees are anticipated to attend this event.
A Florist may work in one of several sectors, in a shop, within an event company or for a variety of retail organisations. Students and apprentices may apply through their college or training provider.
This is an individual competition. There is no limit to the number of entries per organisation.
Following the qualifiers, those with the highest scores are invited to compete at the National Finals at WorldSkills UK LIVE, the UK’s largest skills, apprenticeship and careers event.
If competitors have met age eligibility criteria and the performance benchmark they could join Squad UK and be on the way to represent the UK in international competition in Lyon 2023, providing they have entered a skill that leads to WorldSkills. Shortlisted participants will be announced at the awards ceremony at WorldSkills UK LIVE 2020.
Whilst there is no stipulation about the level of floristry required to enter, competitors MUST be familiar with the core competencies and MUST NOT have more than 5 years industry experience. Competitors must have a high standard of basic techniques such as wiring, taping and construction methods together with an understanding of how to apply these professional standards in practical work.
